Repair a ZIP archive

The cleanest fix: repair the archive itself, so every extraction afterwards produces correct names. Ideal for ZIPs made on Windows with Japanese, Korean or Chinese filenames.

Why ZIP names break

The ZIP format has no standard filename encoding. Windows tools typically store names in the machine's regional code page (Shift-JIS, GBK, Big5, EUC-KR), while macOS assumes UTF-8 — so Archive Utility decodes them into garbage. The file contents are fine; only the names are mis-decoded.

How to repair

Drop the ZIP onto Mojifix. It reads the raw filename bytes, detects the source encoding, and shows the full before → after list. From there you can either:

Extract with fixed names — unpack straight to a folder with correct names, or
Save a fixed ZIP — write a repaired copy of the archive to share onward.

The original ZIP is never modified in either case.

Manual encoding override

As with file repair, detection runs automatically, and you can override it (EUC-KR, Shift-JIS, GBK, Big5) if an archive is ambiguous. The preview re-renders as you switch.
